Something that Magnifies the Special

Today, my oldest son turned 11...  where did the time go?  It seems like just yesterday that David and I went on our first date and I met JMS 8 days later.  This 4 year old (barely 4) with big brown eyes captured my heart from the get go.  In addition to the huge smile that will melt your heart.  Over the years, he has grown up and matured so much that it is sometimes easy to forget who that little boy was all those years ago.   He has grown into an intelligent, articulate and mature young man.  He can pick up any book and read it from cover to cover without taking a break.  He reads well beyond his years and takes great pride in being able to discuss what he reads with any kid or adult.  He has taken up baseball and scouting this year, which he loves.  David especially loves the December camping trips :)

More recently, JMS loves cooking.  He loves to help in the kitchen, not only with the actual cooking, but with the planning as well.   One of the MOST special things about my new endeavor with this cooking club is that it is something that I can enjoy with him and him alone.  He helped with the Chicken Tortilla Soup and then gave his opinion and ways we could do it differently.  Anyone who has ever cooked for him believes he is one of the easiest people in the world to please in the food department because he will eat ANYTHING... and most of the time ramble on about the deliciousness.  I'm so proud of him and so proud to be his Mom.  Happy 11th Birthday JMS!!!
